The Grande and Valcatoio Waterfalls of Isola del Liri

Isola del Liri is in fact an island on a river! The Liri River, precisely, which represents (even more so in the past,unfortunately, with the productions related to the Paper Mills) the strength , richness and uniqueness of this small town. Here you will find a spectacle created by the force of the waters, a vertical waterfall (the Cascata Grande) 28 meters high, now rich and bubbling now thinner and more silent depending on floods and atmospheric precipitation, which, a unique case at least in Europe, gives its best right in the historic center of the town. The Liri, dividing into two branches in the beautiful Castle Park, also finds in front of it a more gradual drop, over which it descends leaping from rock to rock forming another picturesque Cascata,smaller, called the Valcatoio.
